Getting Started Writing Your Autobiography

Plenty of good resources exist on the web to help you write your autobiography. Part of the fun of recording your autobiography is figuring out the way that best fits your lifestyle, your life, your time, and your personality.

Try any of these items to start the process:

1. Record your story on tape or cd.

2. Look at your old photos.

3. Keep a personal journal.

4. Answer questions online and have your answers compiled into a nicely bound, hardcover book that can be passed on from generation to generation.

5. Enlist your family and friends to help you remember and collect stories.

6. Making a family tree.

Remember, It's Your Story

Find your voice. People who know you should find you in the pages of your autobiography. They should find a stranger. Although it's uncomfortable sometimes, it's best to tell your story honestly. People will respect and appreciate your honesty.

You'll learn a lot about yourself and the life you've lived.

You'll ensure that the autobiography you record reflects, accurately, the life that you've lived.
